Title: Reducing the vulnerability of regional trade corridors: call of action
Authors: Collymore, Jeremy
Issue Date: 2002
Publisher: CDERA
Abstract: The paper embraces the concepts of Trade Corridors as encompassing production, service and settlement zones, include the transportation and other infrastructure that links them. In this context any consideration of vulnerability reduction to these corridors must be holistic in character and build upon existing initiatives. It suggests that the stakeholders of the Trade Corridors agenda must define a strategic niche in the risk management dialogue that allows them to best advance this focus. The issue of credibility is raised in the context of ensuring that the mandates we seek do not already exist or that the resources are not efficiently utilized. Notwithstanding this a number of areas of action have been advanced for consideration in the context of trade corridors resilience.
